Working with my mentor Dr. Betty Braxter and a team of colleagues in the women’s health faculty, I am working on a nursing education innovation in which students are taught clinical judgment through participation in a simulation experience. As part of the project, we are developing a clinical judgment self-assessment instrument based on the Lasater Clinical Judgment Rubric (with permission from Dr. Kathie Lasater), and designing a simulation experience using INACSL’s Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice. We are presenting our preliminary findings at INACSL in June 2023.
